– Fairfax, VA
donates $2500 to "EQUI-KIDS Therapeutic Riding Program
" as part of the “Charity of Choice”
Embrace Home Loans is pleased to present a check to EQUI-kids a therapeutic riding camp located in Virginia Beach, VA. A check for $2500 was presented to the organization whose mission is “to provide, promote and support equine assisted activities for individuals who have mental, physical, emotional, social or learning disabling conditions.” http://www.equikids.org/
Gil Lunsford, Branch Manager and Senior Loan Officer Pat Holland of Embrace’s Fairfax office
selected the charity. “My sister, Karen, who was born with spinal bifida
, was one of the first of 6 riders back in 1989 when Equi-kids first opened its doors to the disabled with a single horse.” Initially all the children learn to ride accompanied by a “side walker” and a “leader. The goal is to ride independently. “While, not all the children attain that goal,” says Holland. “The resulting self-esteem, not to mention the bonding that occurs between horse and rider, is remarkable.” Karen would eventually reach the goal of riding independently. Today Karen volunteers at Equi-kids as a receptionist.
As a business incentive and reward for meeting and exceeding Embrace Home Loans
business goals and objectives, a monthly competition between our Retail and Direct Loan Officers has been established called the “Charity of Choice” Competition
. The division winners of the competition receive a charitable donation from Embrace Home Loans
made out to the charity of their choice.
“Charity of Choice” Competition
winners from Embrace Home Loans
donate $2,500 each consecutive month through December 2011 to a local charity which has been nominated by the winning team and selected by it’s employees.
Embrace Home Loans
has a culture of giving,” says Lunsford, “over the past 5 years alone we have donated more than $13.5 million dollars to charities both big and small.”
EQUI-KIDS Therapeutic Riding Program
2626 Heritage Park Drive
Virginia Beach, VA 23456
has grown to become Virginia's
largest accredited equine riding program that benefits the special needs community. With 18 horses providing therapy to 70-80 riders each week, our program offers support to individuals with disabilities such as Down syndrome
, autism, spina bifida, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, amputation, mental and physical disabilities, attention deficit disorder, and more.
Therapeutic riding gives each child a sense of empowerment and opens up a world of possibilities. Interacting with our horses doesn't just strengthen muscles and improve balance and coordination - the generous nature of our horses strengthens emotional bonds, building trust and confidence with each session.
Senior Loan Officer
As the son of a naval officer and elementary school teacher, wholesome core values were stressed throughout his life. The importance of honesty, integrity and treating others with respect were taught and expected. This was the foundation established for Patrick Holland at a very young age and how he has built a successful career as a Senior Loan Officer, first at Mason Dixon Funding and now at Embrace Home Loans.
Patrick graduated college from Old Dominion University
in 1998. While in college, he managed a successful golf operation and soon found a passion in the golf industry on both the course and in business development. In late 1999, Patrick moved to Northern Virginia
to build an Internet Golf Operation. This geographic move proved to be the start of a new chapter in his entrepreneurial drive as he became the CO-General Manager and Golf Professional for Mid-Atlantic Golf Properties.
Patrick became a full member of the Professional Golfers Association
(PGA) in 2005, and still is an active participant in teaching the game of golf to his long time friends and students.
After building and running one of the most successful golf operations on the east coast, Patrick decided to use his finance and customer service skills in a new arena, the residential mortgage industry. He found his calling! Within a few short months, he had become a top producer and respected loan officer in Northern Virginia
. Patrick was one of the top 10 Loan Officers in the company during his time at Mason Dixon Funding. His approach to business is very simple: Listen to your clients’ needs, goals and expectations and provide them with honest answers and communicate with them at all times.
On the home front, Patrick has been married to his lovely wife, Mikah, since 2004 and was blessed with a little baby boy, Jackson, on April 3rd, 2007. He and his family have been Kingstown residents since 2000.
